To protect yourself from fraud: after receiving the wire instructions you'll use to send your deposit and final payment to the escrow company, call your agent and confirm every detail of those instructions verbally before sending any money.

The wire instructions will remain identical from your first deposit through closing. Never act on revised instructions that arrive by email or text.
